Napa Valley Wine Expedition

Wheeeeee! We thought it would be fun visit Napa Valley today. We did manage to find some wineries that make sparkling wines, as that is the only kind we like. The trip started off well, being really foggy and San Francisco-esque in the morning, but the fog ended as soon as we got 10 miles out of the city. The first place we went was Gloria Ferrer. We took a tour of the grounds and visited the entrance to the wine caves (visitors are NOT allowed in the wine caves, under any circumstances) and tasted some sparkling chardonnay and pinot noir. They were both ok, if a little dry...next we wanted to go to Taylor's Refresher, a diner type place that has great ahi tune burgers...after driving through the mountains for an hour and a half due to faulty google map directions, we finally made it, and were not impressed. it was no where near as good as the first time we ate there, but we ate it all, cuz dammit I'm not going to throw away any part of 13.99 tuna sandwich. we decided to skip Mumm Napa and come home early to savor the sweet and predictable flavor of Trader Joe's Asti, a 2005 vintage for the fair price of 5.99. mmmmmmm.
