This was one of the busiest, yet most enjoyable saturdays I've had in a while...we went to the the Palace of the Legion of Honor and the De Young Museum, the two fine art museums in SF. I was a little disappointed in the Legion of honor, since last time we were there they had an art deco special exhibit, with the Tamara de Lempicka painting "Jeune Fille Vert" It was really something to see in person. Rose introduced me to Lempicka when I met her and she has become my favorite painter. Interesting historical fact: Lempicka often slept with her female models. So anyway, there were no special exhibits today, just the permanent collection at both museums...the victorian era stuff was interesting...both museums had a bit too much "bleeding Jesus" themed art for my taste. There's nothing beautiful about an emaciated, unshaven, dirty and bleeding man nailed to a cross. It's just gross. He reminds me of some of the crackheads I see in the park. The DeYoung museum had a whole floor of african tribal art...another "favorite" of mine. In my opinion, art is something that should take some genuine skill to produce...something that, when looked upon, makes the observer think things like how beautiful it is, or how well done it is that it looks real enough to touch...to put it bluntly, art should look good. A wood sculture complete with human hair, exaggerated saggy boobs, and grotesque limbs DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. Art should also look like
something. Throwing paint around on a canvas and producing something that looks like it could have been created by a kindergartner does not constitute art. Don't even get me started on MODERN art. Among the things that Jackson Pollack can call himself, artist should not be one of them. (sorry brian and kelly) That's just my opinion, of course. So then it started to rain and we stayed in for the rest of the night. Got some delivery sushi, watched some Star Wars, I finished my Lego AT-ST that was an early christmas present from my family. (thanks Mom!) It will join the AT-AT in the living room. The dark side is strong in this house. Right now we're making some cupcakes. life is good. Tomorrow we're going down around the marina to see some neat old houses and we're going to try to find an old pet cemetary. Bad Stephen King book. Good Ramones song.

Those are some awesome Legos. My nephew has a few of the Star Wars ones, but nothin' as cool as the AT-AT or AT-ST.
I'd like to start getting the Batman ones sometime. Those are pretty sweet.
